The PS State Department for Devolution Ms Teresia Mbaika CBS during the ongoing East African Local Government Forum for Permanent Secretaries and representatives of County Government umbrella bodies and Local Government Associations at the Kenya School of Government,  Nairobi. When discussing on the Current Status of Decentralization and Devolution Policies in EALGA/EALGF member countries, reiterated the importance of Devolution in Kenya highlighting the key achievements and opportunities.
"County Governments are now fully operational playing their roles in social, economic and political development while the National Government is committed to supporting and collaborating with the County Governments to achieve development priorities.
Kenya has made remarkable strides in devolving power and resources to the sub-national level with various constitutional provisions enabling fiscal decentralization, with the counties now receiving at least of 23% of the national revenue. This has empowered county governments to take charge of critical functions such as; health, agriculture, water, infrastructure, trade, and early childhood education enhancing the citizens' living standards and spurring innovations in local service delivery."
