High level meeting with county

High-level meeting with the County Government Workers Grievances Committee and key stakeholders to address concerns raised by county employees through their Union

The Principal Secretary for Devolution, Michael Loikenu Lenasalon, today chaired a high-level meeting with the County Government Workers Grievances Committee and key stakeholders to address concerns raised by county employees through their Union, with a focus on Nairobi City County.

‎Key issues discussed included the non-remittance of statutory deductions and the delayed implementation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) by the Nairobi County Government.
The meeting also addressed a procedural impasse around institutional responsibilities in integrating the CBA into the Human Resource Information System, which has contributed to the delays.

‎The Chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), Ali Abdullahi Surraw, committed to table the CBA before the Commission by next Tuesday. Following this, the State Department for Devolution will convene a meeting with all stakeholders, including the County Governments Workers Union, to review progress and guide implementation based on SRC’s advice.

‎On concerns related to discrimination and non-remittance of statutory deductions, the Principal Secretary directed that the matters be escalated to the relevant sector forum for further consideration.

‎The meeting was attended by senior representatives from SRC, the Nairobi County Government, the Office of the Solicitor General, the State Department for Devolution, and other key institutions.
