Pre-Summit Meeting with the Deputy Pesident
This morning, the Principal Secretary, State Department for Devolution, Michael Loikenu Lenasalon, joined a crucial pre-summit meeting chaired by H.E. the Deputy President, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, at his residence in Karen.
The Summit serves as the highest forum for consultation and cooperation between the national and county governments; a space where shared priorities are discussed, challenges resolved and the spirit of devolution strengthened.
During the meeting, the State Department for Devolution proposed the formal adoption of the Intergovernmental Relations Act Regulations by the Summit, a strategic step towards fully operationalizing the framework for coordination, consultation and cooperation across all sectors between the two levels of government.
Once implemented, these regulations will:
· Provide clear structures, convening protocols, and defined roles for sector forums
· Ensure that technical issues are resolved at the right levels before escalating to the Summit.
· Promote seamless policy coordination, reducing conflict, duplication, and wastage of resources.
Ultimately, this is about building a more efficient, collaborative, and people-centered devolved system, one that delivers real value to Kenyans.
Accompanying PS Lenasalon was the Secretary for Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations, MO Shalle, the Director Partnership and Intergovernmental Relations, Lesley Khayadi and the PS' Technical Advisor, Margaret Osilli.
